After talking about trials, now it's time for temptations. Once again, we can all relate to this topic. I've had my fair share of temptations myself. Anyway, the bible is telling us that when we are faced with temptation we should not blame it on God, because the temptation is not from God. Because God doesn’t tempt anyone. Some people would say "Oh no, God is tempting me!" but your wrong. Temptation comes from our own evil desires. We know the wrong things, yet we still desire for these things, that is what leads to temptation. And if we fall to temptation, we begin to sin. We might say that the devil is tempting us, but we have a choice. A choice to fall into temptation or win over it.
For example. There's this little boy. His mommy baked some cookies and put it in a cookie jar. And mommy told him, "Don't touch that cookie jar until your sister came home." So the young boy was so sad because he loves cookies so much, and he couldn't wait for his sister to come home. The young boy was so enticed by the smell of the cookies. So he told himself, "I'll just smell the cookies. I won't eat any, just smell it." So young boy walked to the table towards the cookie jar. He sat into the chair and opened the jar. Hmmm... The smell was so delicious. Then he looked around. Mommy was not around. "I'll just take one. She'll never even notice that I took one," the young boy thought. So he took a cookie and eats it. But it was so delicious. He couldn't help himself and took one after another. Then Mommy went back, so the young boy. Mommy got angry, the boy got scolded.
Let's look at it. What lead the boy to sin? It was the boy's desire for the cookies. The boy knew that it was wrong to eat the cookies, yet because he liked the cookies too much, he just walked towards it, making him fall into temptation. And because he already had tasted the cookies, he could not stop from eating it. In the same way, we're all tempted by our desire. We knew the wrong things, yet we walked into it. Like in my story, the boy had a choice. We also have a choice. We could walk away from our own cookies, to avoid temptation. We should pray to God to give us the power to overcome our temptation because God is faithful, he will never let you fall into sin once you call unto Him.
